Bedtime Family Story Hour

Gail McKitterick leads a band of hearty buccaneers as they do some counting before they go to bed. Gail runs the Bedtime Story Hour at both the Vineland and Beamsville libraries. Check our website for details.

New Library Board

Accreditation

The Minister of Culture, Caroline di Cocco (left), presents Bev Haskins, Library Board member, and Jill Nicholson, Library CEO, with the Library's Certificate of Accreditation under the Ontario Public Library Guidelines Program. The presentation took place on Thursday February 1, during the Ontario Library Association's annual Superconference in Toronto.

Award for Board Member

Sue Culp (right), former Lincoln Public Library Board member, shows off the James Bain Medallion for Trustee of the Year, which she received for her work with the Ontario Library Boards Association, the Federation of Ontario Public Libraries, in particular the Telling our Stories contest, and for her contribution to the Lincoln Public Library. Presenting her with the award is the Past President of OPLA, Karen McGrath. Karen is a former CEO of the Lincoln Public Library.

Quilt Hanging

The Community Quilt is finally here. Dozens of local people helped put the quilt together, under the leadership of Donna Bothen, to commemorate the anniversary of the library in Vineland. Drop into the Moses F. Rittenhouse Library sometime and have a look.

Babies and Books

Gail McKitterick leads parents and their babies in the Babies and Books program at the Moses F. Rittenhouse branch of the Library. Parents learn songs, books, and activities that are appropriate for their children.

Family Literacy Day

The Lincoln Public Library was proud to help some local schools celebrate Family Literacy Day on January 26. Jordan Public School and Campden Public School joined together to host a Hamilton poet and author for their students and parents.

Earth Day

Members of the Library staff show off the many bags of garbage they collected from around the library grounds in Beamsville. This was part of the Town's Earth Day celebrations.

Story Hour

Some enthusiastic 3 to 6 year olds prepare to listen to a story during Miss Elisabeth's Story Hour program. For more details see our Library Activities page.

It's Spring at Miss Elisabeth's Story Hour and the children are preparing to plant some 'magic' beans.

With the warm weather here, Miss Elisabeth took the Story Hour children outside for a 'Teddy Bears Picnic'. One of their activities involved a colourful parachute.

t's "Bike to Get There" week!

2 Niagara Symphony musicians played at the Fleming library this past Saturday (June 9th) from 11 12 to raise awareness and donations for the symphony.

John Kralt, Town Councillor and Library Board member, was telling people at the Strawberry Festival on June 16, about the many resources and activities available at the library.

The Town of Lincoln has chosen several images from the Local History collection at the Lincoln Public Library as a permanent display in the Beamsville Room in the town hall.

The Lincoln Public Library took advantage of the 'Community Exhibit Corner' at the museum to show a selection of Library memorabilia.

Read-to-Me

Final celebrations of the summer Read-to-Me program included running under a colourful parachute on August 16.

Clinton Deeds

The library recently came into possession of several thousand Clinton Twsp deeds dating from 1868 to 1955. In the picture above, local historian Larry Rittenhouse looks on from the back row as volunteers Bill Zimmerman, Pat High, and Mary-Lou Garr begin the long process of indexing each of the deeds.

Agricultural Society

Joe Kelter of the Lincoln Agricultural Society enthralled his audience with tales of the Lincoln County Fair over the past 150 years. His talk was part of the Library's Historic Lectures Series. On Nov. 3 Donna Bothen will talk about the Heritage of Quilts. (October)

20 Valley Photo Contest

This young model stands beside her mother’s winning photo of her. These pictures are the winners of the Twenty Valley Tourism Association’s first photo contest. They are on display at the Moses F. Rittenhouse Library in Vineland. For more details visit the 20 Valley website. (November)

Pennsylvania German Folklore Society

Larry Rittenhouse stands behind the display he set up at the Moses F. Rittenhouse Library in Vineland to illustrate to the community the history and many contributions of the Pennsylvania German and Swiss Mennonite settlers in this area and across Ontario. The library has a complete set of all the Pennsylvania German Folklore Society publications.

Royal Flying Corp

The Lincoln Public Library was pleased to be able to help CHCH TV's Fred Anderton answer a viewer's question about the 1918 School of Aerial Gunnery in Beamsville. The segment is scheduled for broadcast as part of the 6 o'clock news on Thursday, November 29.

Christmas Open House

Riley, Cole, and Dawnelle, get some help making Christmas stockings at the Library's Open House on December 8.

Bookmarks

Library Board member Terri Della Manna, presented the awards for the library bookmark competition to the winners, Eva kindergarten grade 2, Grace grade 3 5 and Isaac grade 6 - 8 at the December 11 Board meeting. Winning Bookmarks are displayed here.
